BigGame

A true hunter must know what weapon to use for each creature. A hunter doesn't go after a small bird with a tree stump. Or attack a running buffalo with only his fists. But even with the correct weapon, the ultimate outcome always turns on the ability of the hunter to out-think his prey. Predator: Big Game 1-4. Summary

Roar

Equipment used by the Yautja may have been designed, and manufactured under ritualistic conditions, by the Yautja themselves. Technology is something they are very proud of, and keep its secrets well. As the New Way Devil discovered in 1930, leaving anything behind on a hunt that might give any intelligent prey an advantage is considered extremely bad form (and punishable).

It is not advised to hunt among star-faring communities with Yautja relations. There is often a risk that it might start some type of conflict. Though they aren't afraid of war, it can take away from the Yautja's most favorite pastime: hunting. However, Yautja can hunt distant colonies and worlds that are outside a region's core.

At their coming-of-age ceremonies, the Yautja receive most of their equipment as well as their weapons. A Yautja may also receive battle armor during wartime or bug harvesting.

A

Audio Waveform Analyzer

The Waveform Analyzer is a separate function of the bio-mask that reacts to changes in the audio environment. Whenever a flux in a Warriors waveform appears, an enemy is present, whether he is in the Warriors line of sight or not.

Through the Sound analyzer, the Yautja can separate sounds into raw phonetic patterns, enabling him to learn any language, even if it takes him longer to understand it.

Audio boosters can detect whispers at 500 feet.

Back Pack

Two parts of the backpack comprise the extra protection at the front, and the mainframe battery at the back. The mainframe battery supplies energy to the shoulder cannon rounds, to the wrist computer, and to the cloaking device. Through the mainframe computer, Yautja's armor, computer system, and external batteries can be connected to the backpack. Recharging the mainframe battery takes only a few minutes, and it can last up to 40 years. The Yautja can recharge their armor's durability using the mainframe battery when they choose to do so.

The backpack is protected by a 4-inch-thick metal unknown on the human periodic table. Humans have encountered no stronger metal than this one. Radiation would make it rust and thus punctureable. The Yautja's spinal cord is extremely brittle, and can be easily broken, which is why they use it as a spinal protector.

Charge Emitters are the Yautja's equivalent of Marine Hacking Tools. With it, they can communicate with and override certain electronic security systems.

Giant Drill Machines

References
drill-rig

In 1908, the Super Yautja (or their predecessors) began bringing giant drill machines to the Game Preserve Planet.

These derelict drill machines stand out from the many structures on the preserve. It has a drill head that looks like a laser cannon, as well as huge tracks. In size this rig must probably be a few miles long and akin to a maze. Due to neglect and lack of maintenance, this rig was enclosed in the tunnel it was digging, and the front of the vessel led to a cave network beneath the surface of the planet.

After living there for some time, Noland figured out all the escapes and passageways on the vessel, so he could get away from Royce to start a fire.

The power source is still active despite its age. The explosion Nikolai caused with the claymores caused an even bigger explosion which sent a fireball through the tunnels up to the surface. The explosion may have been enhanced by either the Super Yautja's power pack or the rig's power supply.

Emergency Methane Breather

References

The Yautja can breathe in Earth's atmosphere, but this device gives them eight additional hours of methane (in case their mask is lost or destroyed). In order for the system to work, the device must be firmly placed against the face.

City Hunter uses the emergency breathing mask when he is on the apartment block in 1997.

Hunter Padding / Thermal Mesh

Hunter padding is provided to new warriors who are aspiring to the upper castes. Padding on the Yautja is a basic mesh that is not much more protective than its thick hide already. The majority are simply armored jump suits for wearing in their dark vessels' corridors. This is as close to a flight suit as they can get. Most are just armored jump suits meant for casual wear in the corridors of their dark vessels. This is the closest they get to flight suits.

One source indicates that the Yautja are ectothermic (cold-blooded). Therefore, their body temperature is regulated by an external source. Using the mesh, a Yautja can adjust the temperature of their body to something more comfortable if the surrounding climate does not suit them. The Yautja can stay warm even at -50 degrees Celsius. Despite even the lowest setting, the thermal netting of the tents is too hot to touch for Humans.

This netting is not present on all Yautja , as the Super Yautja does not use it. Their species is either more mammalian than reptilian or, as a different clan from Jungle Hunters', they might not have the technology to utilize it.

Killscreen Generator

References
Extinction
  • AvP: Extinction. EA. 2003. Software.

A clan's most skilled combat veterans, the Vanguards, will lead the charge against the enemy. As a result, the Vanguards uses a system called the killscreen generator to protect itself against enemy fire. As with force fields, the protection spines on killscreen generators emit intense dark plasma streams that vaporize enemy projectiles as they pass through. There are limits to how much mass it can vaporize, though. Due to the limit, a lot of projectiles can overwhelm the system.

Knee Pad

kneepad

This kneepad is made of special metals that are more advanced than any other type of padding used by the Yautja.

Knee pads are very flexible, durable, and strong. The shin area is six inches thick, and the knee area is eight inches thick. The outermost edge of each knee pad houses a holster for carrying the Net Launcher, spare Ki'Cti-Pa, or a combi-stick.

The tri-beam laser sight is an advanced tracking and aiming device. The red dots appear on the target surface within visual range of the laser. With each shot, it saves 0.5–1 seconds, which is critical for hunting and short distances. Laser sights can be used at a distance of 3000 feet.

Additionally, the Yautja's laser sight provides a 3-D profile of the opponent.

The beam can also heat things up as hot as 1,100 degrees Celsius (2,012 degrees Fahrenheit) - as hot as a bonfire.

Generally, laser sights are used in combination with the Plasma Caster, but they work with any weapon.
