Runners share the same basic physical conformation and instincts as other kiande amedha, although there are several differences due to its host. The Runner in its Chestburster form is a miniature version of the adult, unlike the larva-like human spawned Chestbursters. The adult Runners are quite a bit smaller, primarily quadrupedal, and have digitigrade hind legs. They lack the dorsal tubes of the human-spawned kiande amedha.

Runners tended to move around on all fours at times, making them fast runners. They attack by biting the enemy and have a more deadly pounce attack. Runners spit acid at enemies and colored a brownish-red rather than the standard black. It is unknown if this is a camouflage response to its environment.

On LV-742, Runners were born from Kurn or Krilitics. These Runners could, upon exposure to heat, implode their skeletons, and then explode their skeletons as shrapnel outward into targets. Other Runners develop stinger-tipped venom sacs that inject spores into a victim, so it can track the weak prey.

"Dragon,", on Fiorini 161, survived submersion in molten lead. It died by pouring cold water on his lead-hot body immediately afterwards.

On Arceon, a Chestburster erupted from a sheep. It shows the characteristics of the animal in which it has gestated. Tiny razor sharp teeth and black, glass-like eyes peer from an elongated head covered with downy, but gore-matted wool. A quadruped, its shrunken hind legs struggled to free itself from the cooling morass of intestines. As it grew, it adapted to a more bipedal stance. It became almost three meters tall. Its long, smooth head was no longer black and slimy but golden. A straw-like covering sheathed its cable-like arms. It has adapted to the environment of the wheat field. It later transmuted again to look like wood and adapted the more traditional bio-mechanoid alien appearance

Runner - Conflicting Reports

There are two conflicting reports regarding the origin of Dragon. The primary, more widely accepted belief is that this Runner was born from a dog, named Spike. The conflicting report has the Runner being born out of an ox, named Babe. Due to DNA Reflex, a Drone from an ox, a larger animal with more mass, would be significantly larger than a human Drone and, potentially, would more closely resemble a Bull Drone.

The Sentry is the next step of a Runner lifecycle and can evolve further into Crushers.

The Sentry serves as a link between the Queen and the rest of the Hive. Next to the Queen herself, the Sentry is the leader of all nearby Kiande Amedha.

A Sentry is a well-programmed communications machine, which accurately and quickly passes information to and from the Queen. In this respect, Sentries have sensors in their hands capable of creating and sensing extremely small vibrations within the Resin and the web of the Hive. The spider's silk can vibrate at a wide range of frequencies, which - when plucked - give the spider vital information about the state of its web, and the presence of prey.

The Resin within the Hive sends out vibrations to the Sentry and the Queen. The Queen receives the information from her Sentry and responds with appropriate instructions to the Sentry, who in turn passes these orders to nearby Kiande Amedha.

When outside the Hive, Sentries leaves a web trail behind them to remain in communication with the Queen. This way, the Queen can remain in control of Kiande Amedha working at a considerable distance from the Hive.
