The Hish-Qu-Ten are a cold-blooded, rash reptilian race that developed on a steamy swamp planet.

They are a Yautja branch who are less honourable, less clever, and have physiology that differs from regular Yautja.

Appearance / Biology

The Hish are similar to the Yautja in appearance, standing 8 feet tall and towering above most humans. The Hish are a physically nimble and strong race that outperforms even the most athletic humans.

Females have brighter coloured flesh braids (dreadlocks) and purple mottling around the jaw, although the differences between the genders are nearly unnoticeable.

The Hish have flesh braids.

The Hish can last twenty minutes under water due to a gas-sac that stores extra atmosphere.

The Hish are a phasal hermaphroditic race. Involuntarily, they switch between genders - Generative Breeder/Male and Female. At any given moment, Hish are known to have six offspring (spawnlings). Females can be distinguished by their brighter coloured dreadlocks and purple mottling around the jaw.

The Kill Gland

The Hish-Qu-Ten are often controlled by their own biological urges, the most dangerous of which is brought on by the stimulation of the kill gland - an evolutionary throw back to the many centuries before the Hish-Qu-Ten had stolen faster-than-light travel.

When stimulated, this gland - a small cherry-red gland located beneath their collarbone - would produces a dangerous hormone that causes the Hish-Qu-Ten to launch into a homicidal rage, losing control over their actions in exchange for incredible strength. This blood rage can be passed on to other Hish-Qu-Ten. If the gland is active for too long, then the hormones spread out to other Hish-Qu-Ten, which will send them into a similar berserker rage.

It was one of the only ways to survive in the ancient swamps of the Hish-Qu-Ten home world. A Hish-Qu-Ten known as Mas-T'Eall taught the Hish-Qu-Ten how to suppress the urges from this gland.

The kill glands are kept in check by medicine.

A human on the Midnight planet dozed a group of Yautja with the gland secretion liquid and the Yautja killed each other. Another Hish-Qu-Ten clan leader launched a nuclear attack on a fellow clan under the strong influence of the kill gland.

Honor System

The Hish-Qu-Ten name translates in their own language to "The People Who Take Territory". They are less honourable than the Yautja and are known to hunt women and children. They also brainwash other races to become their slaves. The Hish-Qu-Ten like to soften up their prey by various tricks, like mind controlled sleeper agents, airstrikes from ships, robotic drones and remote controlled children.

When it is time to actually hunt, they attack with overwhelming force that leaves little room for a fair fight for their prey. Like regular Yautja, they live for the hunt and are interested in taking trophies from different species. They are offended by humans making technological advances as they consider them to be an unimportant race.

Culture

The biggest difference compared to the regular Yautja is that the Hish-Qu-Ten are able to change their gender. A male can change into a female and vice versa. This happens involuntarily during a random time and can often ruin their hunts. The gender change usually comes together with an instant desire to mate.

Hish-Qu-Ten have 6 offspring, called spawnlings, at any time. Instead of taking their children to educative hunts, the Hish-Qu-Ten use remote controlled humans that their spawnlings can use to attack others. The children see through the eyes of the humans and can control their movements. These humans can even be women and children.

The Hish-Qu-Ten society has a hierarchical structure with a clan leader taking command. Regular clan members can be quite dumb and there is often infighting amongst the members of the clan. Shesh-Kuk was a notable and infamous clan leader of the disastrous hunt on the Midnight planet.

Technology

The Hish-Qu-Ten scavenge technology from other races. They also use slave races to maintain and upgrade that technology, like the Amengi race. The Hish techonology is generally easy to use, for the purpose of even the dumbest members of their clans to be able to handle it. Through the scavenging, the Hish have been able to gather powerful weapons, like a planet clearing space ray or nuclear weapons. On their safaris, the Hish prefer to use hovering platforms to get a good overview of the jungle. Their arsenal is mostly the same as the Yautja Weapons, with shoulder cannons, wristblades and spears being generally used.

The Hish-Qu-Ten appear in Outworld, along with the standard Yautja Warrior and Hunter. The Hish wears a silver Yautja mask (similar to Jungle Hunter's mask) and has a powerful plasma caster.

The Hish pitted themselves against various opponents and kiande amedha, and eventually engaged in combat with Shinnok, an elder god. After defeating Shinnok, the Hish-Qu-Ten was able to extract his magic powers. With the power of sorcery, the Hish was unstoppable and decimated whole worlds single-handedly, becoming the Apex Hish.
