Alien: Engineers

Alien: Engineers, also known as Alien: LV-426, Alien: Genesis and Alien: Origins, was a direct prequel script draft to Alien, taking place on LV-426 and setting up the events that occur in the original movie. While the characters and overall plot of Alien: Engineers evolved into the film Prometheus, the script is otherwise quite different from the film. Most obviously, Alien: Engineers acts as a direct prequel to Alien, taking place on LV-426 (rather than LV-223) and setting up the events that occur in Alien.

While it features the traditional kiande amedha from Alien, Spaihts' script also introduces new variations of the species with new attributes or abilities. During the story, David makes it clear that the kiande amedha seen in the Alien films are not naturally-occurring organisms, but rather biologically engineered weapons of war, created and/or modified for purpose by the Engineers. David goes on to imply there are other variations of kiande amedha designed for specific purposes, variations which have yet to be seen.

One of the new kiande amedha is born from Holloway on board the Magellan. The script later implies this so-called "Beluga-kiande amedha" may be the progenitor of the kiande amedha species, or at least an earlier iteration of it, stating that the Ovomorphs and Facehuggers discovered by the crew of the Nostromo in Alien are "an evolution" of the molluscoid eggs and the Octo-Facehugger that impregnates Holloway. The Beluga-kiande amedha is said to be white in color, as opposed to the predominantly black kiande amedha, and is able to reshape its malleable body to squeeze through small openings.

The screenplay also features a Jockey-spawned kiande amedha, called the Ultramorph, the existence of which was implied in Alien when Dallas, Kane and Lambert discover the Pilot's corpse aboard the Derelict Ship, its chest burst open. Spaihts describes the Ultramorph as "dark gray, armored, lethal... more hideous than any kiande amedha we've seen". The creature grows even more rapidly than typical kiande amedha, at one point visibly increasing in size as Watts watches it feed on the rotting Engineer head recovered from inside the Engineer facility.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

When the viral marketing campaign for Prometheus began on February 28, 2012, a short film called TED 2023 was released. A young Peter Weyland gives a speech at the 2023 TED TALK about his plans for the future of the Weyland Corporation and mankind as a whole. The short presents a futuristic version of a TED conference, a real-life annual technology and design event held in Long Beach, California.

The production of the short was made in collaboration with TED in order to introduce new fans of the Alien franchise to the conference itself.

Alien: Covenant - Last Supper

References
Covenant
  • Alien: Covenant - The Last Supper. 20th Century Fox, Feb 22 2017. YouTube. Web.

The short serves as an introduction to the crew of the Covenant; the film is set prior to their appearance in Alien: Covenant, revolving around the crew's "last meal" before entering hypersleep for their long journey. After Captain Branson turns in, Upworth begins choking on the food, causing Walter to step in to dislodge the offending item to save her life. Daniels makes a speech about their journey together and the whole crew toast to the Covenant.

Last Supper contains numerous references to Alien. The entire sequence where Upworth chokes is a clear reference to Kane and the infamous Chestburster scene; Tennessee's response when he sees Upworth is in trouble — "The food's not that bad!" — is the same reply Parker says when Kane begins choking in Alien. There is also a dippy bird visible on the table, just as there was on the Nostromo in Alien.

Phobos depicts several members of the USCSS Covenant crew undergoing psychological evaluation at a Weyland-Yutani facility on Phobos. It was directed by Toby Dye.

At a Weyland-Yutani testing facility, several members of the crew for the upcoming Covenant colony mission are subjected to psychological tests to evaluate their suitability for the expedition. The crewmembers are strapped into a chair in the testing booth, after which they are left alone and questioned by a computer as to their feelings about their planned mission, their strengths and their fears. During questioning, they are subjected to unexpected shocks in the form of small pyrotechnic charges detonated within the booth. After the initial round of questions, the computer puts them through a round of word association. Throughout the examination, their responses are monitored by a Weyland-Yutani technician in an adjacent observation booth. Finally, the restrained crewmembers are ordered to watch a series of distressing video clips, including graphic violence and mutilation, and rate the degree to which the footage makes them feel afraid or uncomfortable. Crew reactions vary — Tennessee is greatly disturbed, Rosenthal is brought to tears, Daniels, Oram and Lopé are largely unmoved, while Walter is completely devoid of emotion.

Advent is a short film sequel to Alien: Covenant in which David8 sends a transmission from the Covenant to Weyland-Yutani on Earth, elaborating upon the genetic experimentation he has been conducting on Planet 4. It was directed by Matthew Thorne.

While recording a video tour of his laboratory on Planet 4, revealing many of the specimens he has collected and dissected, David8 explains his that onward journey after the failure of the Prometheus expedition was in an effort to follow Peter Weyland's vision. Upon discovering the "rotting paradise" of Planet 4, David8 annihilated its resident Engineer population as a "gift" to Shaw; when Shaw balked at his genocide, David8 used her as a specimen in his experiments, attempting to make her "more than human" but ultimately killing her.

David8 goes on to explain his work towards creating the perfect organism, including his use of the black liquid to try and forcibly evolve new species. However, his work is stymied by a lack of suitable host life forms on the planet. By experimenting on Shaw's corpse and after many years of painstaking research, David8 was finally able to develop his "wolf", the Xenomorph. David states his intention to use the suspended colonists he has now captured aboard the Covenant to breed his creatures, before concluding that Daniels may be the key to his ultimate creation, his Queen, which he promises "is going to change everything".

In addition to the video footage, David8 also transmits his research files to earth, in the hopes that the information will help Weyland-Yutani unlock the secrets of his work.
